Deedee Keeler, FNP-C
Dorothy "Deedee" Keeler is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and the primary care provider at Prime Direct Health in Gilbert. She's an Arizona native, a U.S. Navy veteran, and the person you'll see for your care.
She grew up in a small town where the whole family went to the same doctor, and the whole town did too. That's the kind of medicine she wanted to practice: one provider who knows you, remembers you, and has time for you.
Before family practice, Deedee spent a decade in the Navy and seven years as an emergency nurse in a Banner emergency department. The ER teaches a particular kind of medicine: fast assessment, high-stakes decisions, and the ability to stay calm when everything around you isn't. Those skills followed her into primary care, where they show up as clinical thoroughness and a quiet confidence that puts patients at ease.
In December 2022, Deedee received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses, a national recognition for compassionate bedside care. The nomination came from a patient's husband whose wife was admitted with severe abdominal pain that escalated rapidly. He wrote that Deedee "immediately noticed my wife was upset and still in severe pain, so she went into action," and said she was "not jaded by her experience."
"Amazing, human, and authentic."
She came to direct primary care because she wanted to practice medicine the way she got into it: with enough time per visit to actually investigate what's going on, instead of writing a prescription and rushing to the next room. At Prime Direct Health, she has the space to build real relationships, develop individual treatment plans, and dig into root causes. Her approach centers on preventive care and patient education. She spends real time on nutrition, on the lifestyle changes people can actually keep up, and on realistic ways to get more active, especially with patients managing diabetes or working toward weight loss. The aim is habits that hold, because those are what prevent or improve the conditions that tend to arrive together: prediabetes and diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. Less prescribing, more figuring out what you'll still be doing in six months.
Patients say two things about Deedee. She doesn't rush. She actually listens. One reviewer put it simply: "If you have white coat syndrome, you won't with Deedee." Others describe her as "very detailed with her care" and say she "gets to the root cause" of issues previous providers missed.
Outside the office, Deedee is married, fourteen years and counting, with two young sons. She's a dedicated weightlifter who takes her own fitness seriously. When she talks to you about staying active and investing in your health, she's speaking from practice, not theory.
