How Prime Direct Health works.

A flat monthly fee. A provider you can reach directly. No insurance hassles, no copays, no surprise charges.

Traditional primary care doesn't work well for patients. Prime Direct Health changes that.

Most doctor's offices in the U.S. work like this: insurance pays for some things, you pay copays for others, and the practice has to see thousands of patients a month to make the math work. The result is short visits, long waits, and bills you didn't expect.

Prime Direct Health works differently. You pay a flat monthly fee directly to the practice, and your insurance stays focused on the big stuff instead of everyday visits. The practice stays small and your visits run as long as they need to, because the math doesn't depend on volume. The technical name for this model is direct primary care, or DPC. It's been around since the early 2000s and is now used by more than 3,000 practices across the country.

What being a member feels like.

Six things that happen when you actually use Prime Direct Health.

  1. You call. A person answers.

No phone tree, no extension menu. If we're with another patient, urgent calls go to the on-call provider and non-urgent voicemails get a callback within two hours during business hours.

  2. We see you today or tomorrow.

Need to be seen today? Call us first so we can hold a slot for you. Because we keep the practice small, same-day or next-day appointments are usually easy to get.

  3. We take time to understand.

We listen, we look, and we get at what's actually driving it, the food, the sleep, the stress that stacks up underneath the thing you came in for.

  4. Your provider remembers you.

By the third visit, your provider knows your patterns, your history, what's worked before. The next conversation starts where the last one ended, not from a chart being read for the first time.

  5. You see what things cost. And it's usually less.

Before we order anything, you see the price. We pass labs through at near-cost, so a blood test that runs $50 to $200 through insurance often runs $5 to $25 here. An in-house pharmacy is coming, and once it opens you'll be able to pick up many common prescriptions right here.

  6. We actually follow up.

Because we want to know if the treatment is working, not just send you out the door.

Most Prime Direct Health members still carry insurance as a safety net for hospital, specialist, and emergency care, subject to their specific plan's terms. The Prime Direct Health model handles primary care, which is where most of the day-to-day cost, hassle, and frustration lives. For everything else, your existing coverage stays in place.

Concierge ranges and visit-length averages based on industry surveys. Insurance figures vary widely by plan.

Prime Direct Health handles primary care. Most members keep coverage for what falls outside it.

Most members pair their membership with a high-deductible or catastrophic insurance plan.

What Prime Direct Health covers

  • Annual physicals and screenings
  • Sick visits, same day or next day
  • Chronic condition management
  • In-office procedures
  • In-office rapid tests: strep, flu, COVID, pregnancy, and urine
  • Prescriptions sent to the pharmacy of your choice
  • Anxiety and depression support
  • Telehealth visits

What your membership doesn't include

We still help with all of it. Deedee orders and coordinates imaging, referrals, and specialists, and points you toward fair cash prices. You pay for these separately, and this is what a catastrophic or high-deductible plan is for.

  • ER visits
  • Hospital admissions
  • Specialist care
  • Surgery
  • Imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound)
  • Major prescription drug coverage if applicable

Three reasons not to wait.

If you've been on the fence, here's what's actually changing in your favor right now.

Your HSA

HSA dollars cover Prime Direct Health.

As of January 2026, federal rules allow Health Savings Account funds to pay your direct primary care membership pre-tax. Depending on your tax bracket, that's an effective 20 to 35 percent discount.

Practice size

We cap our practice size.

Each Prime Direct Health provider cares for 400 to 600 patients, compared to 2,000 to 2,500 at a typical practice. When we hit capacity, we pause new enrollment until the next location opens.

The cost of waiting

Small problems get expensive.

A $7 lipid panel now is a small investment in catching things early. Waiting is what makes problems expensive.

Prime Direct Health is for you if…

You've been putting off your health because seeing a primary care provider is an expensive hassle.

You want a provider who'll hear you out and find real answers, not just 13 minutes and a prescription.

You want to know what things cost before they happen, not after the bill arrives.

Prime Direct Health is not for you if…

You're hoping to skip the exam and just get the prescription. We focus on understanding before prescribing.

You only need a specialist, surgery, or hospital care. We're a primary care provider, and don't provide those services.

More about being a member.

How is this different from urgent care?

Urgent care treats your symptoms and sends you home. Prime Direct Health manages your health over time. Your provider knows your history, follows up, and catches the patterns urgent care misses. We also answer urgent calls live and call back on non-urgent voicemails within two hours during business hours, so you're less likely to need urgent care in the first place.

Can I keep my specialist?

Yes. Prime Direct Health is your primary care. Specialists you already see stay with you. We coordinate the referral, share records when needed, and make sure your care plan stays connected.

What happens if I'm hospitalized?

Hospital and ER care isn't part of your membership. That's where your existing insurance coverage matters. Because Prime Direct Health doesn't bill insurance, your membership won't interfere with how your hospital coverage works.

What if I'm out of town when something comes up?

Telehealth visits work anywhere. If something serious happens while you're traveling, we can usually triage by phone and decide whether you need urgent care locally or whether it can wait until you're home.

How do I reach you outside business hours?

Members have direct contact information for urgent issues. Non-urgent messages get a response on the next business day. For emergencies, call 911.

Want the whole thing in one place?

A two-page walkthrough covering what's included, what it costs, and the questions most people ask before joining. Useful information. No pressure to book.

You'll get it on the next screen. We won't sell your email.
